As a GM, you always look for that one missing piece to a championship puzzle. On June 28, it can be said that Kevin Pritchard and Nate McMillian did just that in the trade Indiana Reportedly traded with Ike Diogu to the Blazers for Jarrett Jack, Josh McRoberts and the rights to Brandon Rush and along with that came that missing piece of Jerryd Bayless. Bayless an six three two hundred pound Virgo definitely lets his sign define his game because he is eager for action and is driven by a desire, a desire to win. This 19 year old kid is demolishing the Vegas summer league average almost 30 plus points a game. He also even earned his way to the u.s select team, a team that scrimmages our country's best basketball players.
Now how he will produce in the season is another story but, in my opinion i believe that this guy has the potential and talent to be the rookie of the year. He is apart of a solid young Portland Trailblazers team that has great chemistry and awesome talent. Clearly Jerryd Bayless and 2007 Number 1 draft pick Greg Oden will be great additions to a solid, well-coached team. Whether he is a great role player or rookie of the year he will be a key contribution to the portland trailblazers. He has so many MVP like attributes; the speed of Chris Paul , the first step and intensity of Allen Iverson, the heart and passion of Kevin Garnett, and scoring ability Chancey Billups, its the perfect mixture for a great player. Now you may say i am doing some wishful thinking but lets be honest, every rookie that has control the summer league has gone on to be great players and possibly rookie of the year. So when its time to pass out the end of the season awards don't be surprise to see Jerryd Bayless in the running for rookie of the year.

I seen dude play on NBA network. He nice, but he's also playing other rookies... People aint really tryin to get hurt in summer leauge, and keep in mind whose playing this year. Sadly enough its not always all about how well u produce, at least not when ppl come in with as much hype as beasley and that reckless driver over there in chicago. Bayless can hoop, but ROY is an always will be an end of season award... Its way too early, 82 games is a long way to go, oh and lets be happy KG doesnt really read blogs like that cus i dont think he'd be too happy u said some rookie has his heart... but hey "ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!" LOL :)
Derrick Rose...Rookie of the Year 08-09
well, i've seen the guy play in person and had a chance to play against him at a basketball camp and i find that overall he is a good player that has the likes of getting even better, which he will seeing that he will be with brandon roy who is one of the most underrated players in the league. As for him getting rookie of the year though i highly doubt it. Although he will contribute a lot to the team, I dont think it will be enough to win the rookie of the year award. He is definitely one of the top 5 rookies in the league though.
